Music Industry 101: Capitol Records Merges with Virgin

The music industry is changing day by day with all kinds of mergers and such, the latest being EMI sub-companies Capitol and Virgin.

Now what does this mean for Hip-Hop, and for music and general? For many artists, these mergers have been death to their careers. For instance, check what happened to Rass Kass after Priority merged with Capitol years ago.

Other rappers have had problems with this as well. Check what happened to Clipse and The Roots.

Only time will tell what this means for artists currently with these companies, but I only hope that Virgin rapper Bossman who's repping for my hometown doesn't get lost in the shuffle!
